Who are the FCA?

The economy affects us all. When it functions poorly, the results can be devastating. That’s why we at the FCA make sure that UK financial markets remain honest, fair and effective. It’s about ensuring firms and businesses behave responsibly, so that consumers everywhere can get a fair deal.

Created by parliament in 2013, we regulate more than 58,000 UK firms undertaking a wide range of financial activities. We are also the prudential regulator for over 18,000 of these businesses. Since then, we have made it our mission to protect consumers, promote healthy competition and enhance the integrity of the UK financial system.

What is the competition?

At the FCA any student who joins us on an internship or graduate opportunity have the opportunity to make a real impact. We also offer the chance to progress within the FCA and make a difference.

The 2007/08 global financial crisis showed us the importance of regulation in today’s globalised financial world. It showed the impact of financial services on people, businesses and economies; and how the actions of businesses and regulators can impact the stability of markets worldwide. At the FCA, we’re working to minimise the risk of such crises reoccurring, and ensuring that firms are better prepared to deal with these situations.

So we’re asking UK university students to tell us:

“If you were the CEO of the FCA, what would be your key priority?”

Submit your entry by 22nd February to have a chance of winning work experience at the FCA!

What is the prize?

This year we are able to offer 5 university students the chance to join the FCA for our Spring Insight Day at our London HQ in Stratford. This Insight Day is an opportunity for students to learn more about what a career at the FCA can offer and meet people at the heart of our business.

It’s open to students in any degree discipline in their final year, on track for a minimum 2:1 degree result.

You’ll gain a unique insight to what it means to have a career that matters at the FCA. You will also meet our senior leaders as well as recent graduates who can talk to you about how they gained a place on the graduate programme at the FCA. We’ll also provide competency based interview training and give you fantastic tips on how to perform to your highest potential at Assessment Centres.

We’re looking for talented people who want to make a real difference and who share our values: ambition, integrity and inclusivity; traits we value highly.

Don’t miss your chance to find out more and get a head start.
